The Building Designers Association of Victoria (BDAV) has announced Alastair McDonald as its new president, effective 8 October 2014.
Alastair is founder of award-winning firm Ecotecture Design Group (EDG) and brings more than 16 years’ experience and a strong passion for the industry to his new role.
“I’m excited and proud to lead the BDAV, a fantastic association with many great achievements to date, including its Building Design Awards which will celebrate its 20th year in 2015,” Mr McDonald said.
“I look forward to helping the BDAV and its members continually grow and promote good, sustainable design within the industry.”
Alastair leads an innovative and talented team of experts committed to sustainable architecture at EDG offices in Melbourne and Echuca, and is passionate about contemporary, sustainable design with the use of natural materials.
He has been recognised at several industry awards, including the 2012 and 2013 BDAV Building Design Awards and was awarded the 2013 Powercor Australia Campaspe Murray Award for Young Entrepreneur of The Year.
Alastair is also a committee member of the National Association of Building Designers (NABD), established in 2013 to provide a national voice for building designers.
He has held the role of BDAV Vice President since 2012 and will succeed outgoing President Michael O’Sullivan, who will now be acknowledged as the Immediate Past President.
