For all the hype over the coalition's focus on infrastructure spending, global research shows Australia's investment ranking has slipped two spots to 11th.

However, the latest Arcadis global infrastructure investment index believes the nation’s asset-recycling policy – where public assets are being sold and the money used directly to re-invest in other infrastructure schemes – provides new opportunities.

“These state assets are fetching values far greater than their expected prices so investor appetite remains strong regardless of the short term,” it says.
