Brookfield Multiplex has added another new apartment tower to Melbourne’s skyline with the completion of the $150 million second stage of Far East Consortium’s Upper West Side in Melbourne’s CBD.
Located on the corner of Little Bourke and Spencer Street and almost half a city block in size, Upper West Side is one of the largest projects currently being undertaken in Melbourne. Once complete, it will comprise four towers with a total of 2,200 apartments, the largest roof garden in the Southern Hemisphere, 34 retail tenancies and two new laneways. Other amenities will include 2 communal pools and gyms and a function room.
The recently completed 50 level Stage Two will provide 584 apartments above a five level podium.
“We are proud to deliver the second building of this exciting project. The magnitude of Upper West Side will transform the apartment offering in the CBD, it is unlike anything in Melbourne. Works are now underway to deliver the final stages of the development,” said Mr Graham Milford-Cottam, Regional Managing Director of Brookfield Multiplex, Victoria.
Designed by Cottee Parker Architects, the facade is constructed as a moving artwork with its appearance changing to reflect the surrounding environment.
Construction works are being closely coordinated with surrounding buildings and adjoining occupied apartment towers.
Construction of the final two stages, a 31 level tower with 282 apartments, and a 53 level tower with 641 apartments, is currently underway with completion expected in November, 2016.
