Engineers Australia Recognises Outstanding Individuals to the Profession

Engineers Australia’s South Australian Engineering Excellence Awards featured recognition of the outstanding contribution individuals make to the engineering profession.

Luigi Rossi, was awarded the 2014 South Australian Professional Engineer of the Year. Building on his overwhelming success as Project Director for the widely acclaimed Northern Expressway, Mr Rossi was appointed as Project Director for the $842 million South Road Superway, the most complex engineering and road construction project ever undertaken in South Australia. The project represents the biggest single investment in a South Australian roads project, and Luigi was selected with the confidence that his project leadership skills would see South Australia’s first ever elevated roadway be successfully constructed.

The 2014 South Australian Young Professional Engineer of the Year was awarded to Justin Goodman. Justin graduated from the University of Adelaide in 2002 with a First Class Honours degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Immediately following his graduation he commenced employment with Aurecon (then Connell Wagner) in early 2004 as a building services electrical engineer and has remained with Aurecon ever since. He is constantly researching and applying the latest proven technology in the telecommunications and security industry.

South Australia’s individual award winners are now eligible to compete for a national individual award title at the National Engineering Excellence Awards, to be held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre on Monday 24 November 2014.
