Four people have fallen from roofs in Sydney in the past 24 hours as more and more people try and do their own home maintenance during the coronavirus crisis.

A 37-year-old man fell eight metres from a roof in Oakhurst on Monday, sustaining injuries to his chest, abdomen and limbs, the CareFlight rescue helicopter service said in a statement.

It’s understood the man was helping a friend with his roof maintenance.

The incident was the fourth such call out in the past 24 hours, following roof falls in Wahroonga, Dundas Valley and Avalon on Sunday.

“We have noticed a dramatic increase in the number of CareFlight missions involving roof falls,” a service doctor said.

“As more people are undertaking home projects that put them at risk, CareFlight urges individuals to take appropriate precautions when performing maintenance around the house.”
