A fully-furnished mushroom inspired cubby house complete with slippery slide, built and donated by national property and construction company Hindmarsh, was the eye-catching backdrop to today’s ACT Government announcement of a new official charity partner for this year’s Floriade festival.

Deputy Chief Minister The Hon Andrew Barr announced Independent Property Group Foundation as an official charity partner for Floriade. Hindmarsh worked with the Foundation to create a cubby house to be auctioned on the final day of Floriade as part of the My Cubby House Rocks initiative.

The initiative will raise money for the Centenary Hospital for Women and Children in Canberra and Boundless Canberra.

Designed and built by Hindmarsh team members in their own time, the project – dubbed ‘Hindmush’ – represents over 200 man hours of work to create a cubby house sure to be the subject of strong demand and intense bidding on the final day of Floriade.

Hindmarsh Chief Operating Officer Rowan Hindmarsh joined The Hon Andrew Barr MLA and Independent Property Group CEO John Runko at today’s announcement.

“Hindmarsh enjoys a strong relationship with Independent Property Group and has been proud to partner with the ACT Government for a range of important projects over the years. We welcome the opportunity to strengthen these relationships and we’re proud to be involved in such a worthwhile cause,” Mr Hindmarsh said.

“Floriade is not only an institution in Canberra, it’s an iconic event recognised on a national and international scale. This year’s event promises to be as spectacular as ever and we’re excited to be part of the today’s announcement,” he said.

One of the ACT’s most recognisable names in property after four decades in operation, Hindmarsh is also the Principal sponsor of the Canberra Theatre Company.

Additionally, Hindmarsh Development was recently awarded the ACT Property Business of the Year Award at the ACT Property Council Awards, recognising its 40 year commitment to quality, customer service and the people of Canberra.
