James Hardie, chemicals maker Orica and Australia’s largest beef producer release profit results on Wednesday.

James Hardie’s half year report will be scrutinised for progress in the US housing market recovery, where the majority of the company’s earnings are made.

Australian Agricultural Company, the owner of more than half a million head of cattle and operator of 7 million hectares of land, is also reporting for the first half of its year, and made a $31.6 million loss for the period a year ago.

Orica has forecast an underlying annual profit in line with the previous year’s $593 million, and is expected to provide more detail on its plan to de-merge its chemicals business from its supply of explosives to the mining and infrastructure sectors.
