Building Consumer Advocate
Victoria Building Consumer Advocate
Melbourne, Australia
Anne is the President of Victorian Building Action Group.

Anne is a well-known Building Consumer Advocate who has worked for ten years campaigning on behalf of Australian consumers for recognition of their consumer rights and human rights.

She has represented individual building consumers through meeting with builders, corresponding with Government agency officials and private companies, and as consumer advocate at the Building and Property List at VCAT.

Anne researches widely on all building and construction industry issues. These include: the lack of protection for Australian consumers; the absence of consumer consultation and representation on Government Boards and Committees; reform of the legal system and administrative governance arrangements across the industry; workplace safety and the urgent need for reducing the unacceptably high numbers of worker fatalities, injuries and industrial diseases; biased legislation and changes to enforce payment for work for small business sub-contractors; exposing the widespread use of dangerous non-conforming building products and materials which seriously impact the health and safety of residents, workers and the community.

Anne has written widely and spoken out in the media, voicing consumer and community concerns on a wide range of issues, advocating for genuine reform of public policy across the Australian building and construction industry and she is passionate in calling for improved governance and accountability and a new legal framework to provide access to justice for consumers, workers and small business owners as the top priorities.
