Renters at a central Perth low-rise apartment block are concerned they they may be forced to move following a Property Council proposal.

The Property Council has made a submission to the West Australian government for the planned Strata Titles Act reform to allow forced sales of complexes older than 15 years – if the majority of unit owners want it.

Puran Shrestha, who has been living for the past five years at an apartment block singled out by the Property Council’s Joe Lenzo as a prime example for the proposal, is not pleased.

“We are happy because we are renting this house so it’s quite good for us now. If they rebuild it, we will have to find somewhere else,” Mr Shrestha told AAP.

“I would be unhappy about that, we would have to move.”
