The Property Industry Foundation in Queensland (PIF) will hold its inaugural “Brisbane Sailing Cup for Charity” on October 10 to raise funds to contribute to building a home for young homeless people in Brisbane.

Aiming to raise over $30,000,the prestigious event will be held at the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron (RQYS). The 2014 Event Partners are Hutchinson Builders and Cornerstone Properties.

“We are thrilled to launch The Brisbane Sailing Cup for charity and have already had a strong response from our industry, many of whom have already demonstrated their support for PIF,” said Liz Pidgeon, PIF Queensland Chairman.

It is expected that there will be a fleet of around 30 yachts racing on the day with members of the RQYS already locking in their yachts to host property and construction industry teams.

A number of high profile corporate entrants so far include Hutchinson Builders, Cornerstone Properties, Broad Construction, Property Council & Conrad Gargett, Gray Puksand, Kane Constructions, Leighton Properties, McGees Property, Savills Project Management, Stockland, The GPT Group, Urbis and Wright Property.

The day will conclude with a fun post-race Polynesian Luau Party which will give all guests the chance to come together and network as well as enjoy the live entertainment and awards ceremony.

Funds from the event will contribute towards building a “PIF House” which provides a safe environment for homeless young people who are cared for by the well-respected Brisbane charity – Youth Emergency Services.

Since its inception in 2013, PIF Queensland has already attracted 33 Corporate Donors who have formed proactive committees that have already gifted funds to several Queensland children’s charities. The committees have established a community leadership program which has held a Workabee for the Salvation Army and Youth Emergency Services (YES) as well as completing the first inaugural building project in Windsor for YES.

Since its formation in 1996 PIF has raised over $20 million net for more than 20 different youth charity programs. PIF’s Victorian office opened in late 2008 helping Victorian young people at risk through a variety of corporate donations and events.
