Emil Joubert (pictured) appointed to head up CBRE’s transaction management team; two new directors hired at Savills Australia; and The Buchan Group recruits former Westfield design expert David McCarroll to its design team in China.

CBRE has hired Emil Joubert as national director of transaction management in the firm’s Global Corporate Services (GCS) team. He will oversee the firm’s GCS transaction management teams across Australia from its Sydney office.

Chris Hynes, CBRE’s senior managing director of GCS, said Joubert “brings a wealth of experience in negotiations, a broad network of connections in the tenant community and obviously an insight into the landlord’s perspective on a transaction”.

Joubert is a long-time employee of Charter Hall, where he most recently served as national leasing director. In that role he was involved in leasing approximately 300,000 sqm of office, industrial and retail space, including the 60,000 sqm Zone project at Sydney Olympic Park and the 41,000 sqm 275 George Street development in Brisbane.

Savills Australia has announced it has appointed industrial property specialists Kosta Filinis and Gareth Jackson as divisional directors at its Notting Hill office in south-east Melbourne.

Both Filinis and Jackson have significant experience in the south-east industrial market. Combined, they have spent 20 years with key commercial agencies in the region.

Westfield design expert David McCarroll has joined The Buchan Group’s design team in its Shanghai office. He has been appointed as principal and also joins Buchan’s global leadership team.

He comes to the role with more than 25 years’ experience with Westfield and Lend Lease.

His time at Westfield involved working on large-scale projects at Westfield Bondi Junction and Westfield Doncaster. At Lend Lease, he occupied the role of senior design architect and worked on major mixed-use developments and other large-scale projects in Australia and New Zealand.
