Construction of a 200 metre-tall hotel and apartment tower at Gold Coast's Jupiters Casino will begin next year after the proposal was given development approval by the Queensland government.

The tower is the latest step in an $850 million development of the casino aimed at increasing accommodation to almost 1400 rooms.

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk says the casino’s development, which includes a plan for up to four more towers, is a sign of confidence in the Gold Coast hospitality industry.
