* A 33-year-old man died after reportedly becoming trapped in machinery at a central Queensland coal mine at 4.30pm on Saturday.

* The state’s mines inspectorate is investigating what caused the incident.

31 December, 2018: Allan Houston, 49, was killed at the Saraji Coal Mine when his bulldozer rolled 20 metres down a hill

15 November, 2018: Connor-Shaye Milne, 21, died at the Fairfield Quarry at Clermont when he became entangled in the rotating tail drum on a conveyor belt

29 July, 2018: Adam Malone, 25, died at Jacks Quarry at Collinsville when he lost control of an articulated dump truck, which rolled over

HOW HAVE PEOPLE RESPONDED TO THE LATEST DEATH?

“Our thoughts are with the family of the worker, colleagues, and the local community,” a spokesman for the mining inspectorate.

“This is a terrible start to 2020. The industry must redouble efforts to end the tragic loss of life in our mines.” CFMEU Queensland president Stephen Smyth.

“The industry is working with the Queensland Government and unions to ensure an ongoing safety focus to maximise safety across the sector,” Queensland Resources Council Chief Executive Ian Macfarlane.
