Seven Group has appointed Woodside executive Jarvas Croome as the new chief executive of its earthmoving company Westrac Western Australia.

Mr Croome is currently president and chairman of Woodside Energy USA.

Seven Group chief executive and former Woodside CEO Don Voelte said Mr Croome had a strong background in resources and technology as well as managing businesses and people.

“Having worked with him before, I know he has a terrific grasp of technical and production aspects of the sectors in which we operate and that couples with outstanding commercial and management capabilities,” Mr Voelte said in a statement.

Seven Group recently said it was looking for new acquisitions as it sheds more than a 1,000 jobs at WesTrac.

While Seven Group owns the earthmoving equipment company WesTrac, it holds major stakes in Seven West Media and Prime Media Group.
