SJB architects have announced the appointment of eight new associates across their Sydney and Melbourne offices.

The announcement, reported in online magazine, Architecture and Design is timed to celebrate the firm’s 38 years in practice.

The young team of associates will contribute to building SJB’s diverse portfolio which currently sees a diverse range of projects in the pipeline from residential interiors to large-scale redevelopment including the urban renewal of Newcastle’s East End in Sydney.

SJB has grown to employ 140 people and have a firm focus on creating better cities through design. In their latest online news detail their design philosophy which moves towards a “more versatile, cohesive and innovative built environment…”

“Our recent multi-unit residential project reflect a typological diversity which is driven by an increasingly varied demographic of Australians who are choosing inner-city living,” the firm add.

To help SJB with their urban endeavours will be the new team of associates made of up: Georgia Hickey, Klaude Lania, Marcus Lewin, Joe Loh and Jonathan Tondi in Sydney while Beau Fulwood, Dan Weekes and Tristan Wong will be based in Sydney.

Sydney

Georgia Hickey, Associate, Interior Design

Georgia studied Interior Architecture at the University of New South  Wales and began her career working on large scale commercial projects in Sydney. She joined SJB where her focus shifted to exploring hospitality, residential and boutique commercial projects. Here, her passion was prompted for heritage buildings and adaptive reuse.

Klaude Lania, Associate, Architecture

Klaude joined SJB in 2011. His experience in the construction industry has given him a deep understanding of the important role design has in delivering exceptional built outcomes. Klaude treats each project as means and opportunity to alter the future through design excellence.

 Marcus Lewin, Associate, Architecture

Marcus joined SJB in 2010, after having completed a Bachelor of Design, and a Masters of Architecture at Sydney University. Marcus specialises in the management of complex, large scale, multiple stakeholder projects that require an in-depth understanding of planning frameworks.

Joseph Loh, Associate, Architecture

At SJB, Joseph ranges from feasibility studies and master planning through to design and documentation of mixed use and multi-residential projects. Along with his work at SJB, Joseph sits on various committees and juries at the Property Council and the Institute of Architects and is  former NSW Chapter Councillor.

Jonathan Tondi, Associate, Architecture

Jonathan specialises in high density multi-unit residential projects with a broader range of experience encompassing hospitality, community and leisure facilities. His experience co-ordinating all specialist consultant services through to site construction phase has delivered a comprehensive design sensibility that achieves innovative solutions at every opportunity.

Melbourne

Beau Fulwood

Beau stupide architecture at the University of Newcastle graduating in 2006, before relocating to Bangkok, Thailand to work for Woods Bagot. He then relocated to Melbourne to complete his Master of Architecture at the University of Melbourne in 2010, joining SJB the following year. At SJB he has worked on multi-unit residential, mixed use, high-end homes and leisure projects across all phases from and feasibility to construction.

Dan Weekes, Associate, Architecture

Dan arrived in Australian in 2008 after running his own small practice, specialising in private residential projects. In contrast, since joining SJB in 2010, he has primarily been involved with the deli verity of large multi-unit residential schemes.

Tristan Wong, Associate, Architecture

Tristan graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2006 with First Class Honours in his Bachelor or Architecture. He joined SJB in 2011 and his strengths lie in feasibility studies, identifying site and project opportunities, and initial project conception, concept design and planning through to town plannin
